Tonight my cousins Ashley and Chelsey Graduate High School...
While it should be a happy evening, my heart is heavy...
Chelsey is my Aunt Judy's daughter.....Judy should have been there tonight to share in this great accomplishment with her daughter....
I know she will be there in spirit....but in my own selfish way...I just want her back here with us....happy and healthy and living life to her fullest....
For those of you who are new readers...my Aunt Judy lost her battle with Breast Cancer when she was only 43 years old....she was buried on her 44th Birthday....she was not only my Aunt but like a sister to me and one of my best friends....
Not to worry...there will be many happy moments tonight and memories made....and I will have a smile on my face, along with many tears....you see Chelsey is Salutatorian...and will be making a speech....and of course she will include her mother in it just as she did at her speech at Baccalaureate.....and Judy will be smiling down on all of us.....so very proud!
Funny how as I am typing this....Celine Dions "My heart will go on" just came on the radio....
Judy....your presence is felt tonight.....and your memory does live on within our hearts..... I love you dearly and miss you so!
Congratulations Chelsey and Ashley!!!!
You both have very bright futures ahead of you....and I wish you the best with everything..... I love you girls....
I'm heading out to the center for Graduation now....with any luck I may get some good pictures....
Goodnight...

What a nice tribute. YOu strike a cord with me when youy say, "I want her back, living life to it's fullest."
ReplyDeleteI know all the platitudes about how they are much better off, etc. but like you, there are times, I just want a loved one back. I know where youare coming from on that one. I know you will be a BRIGHT FACE for Chelsey.
Love ya,.

I understand the bittersweet feelings, doll. I do. But you know Judy is happy...and she's with you guys.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to your beautiful cousins!
Tonight is a big night.
XOXO
congrats to the grads!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean. Our family get togethers are wonderful, but then I look over and expect to see my sweet grandparents and they are truly missed. I hope your niece's graduation was a lovely evening, and congratulations to them both! Blessings to you, Terri
