Yesterday was such a good day....Jeff and I had planned a fishing trip out close to his Uncles farm....his cousin and family were there visiting as well with their 4 children...and were going to fish as well....
We got there around 2pm and were sitting out on the patio bar chatting away and my cell rang....it was Mom...she had some devastating news to share with us... My stepsister has been diagnosed with breast cancer....she caught it very early from what I've been told...and was given the choice to have a mastectomy or a lumpectomy...and she chose the lumpectomy...she will be having surgery Wed. ...during the surgery they will also remove some lymph nodes to send off to be tested. She will be going through radiation but how many treatments is not known at this time....
I haven't talked to my stepsis yet, I am planning on calling her but haven't found the right words to say just yet, in fact there aren't any :( She is 29yrs old and has a son and a daughter.... I want her to know she can rely on me for anything.... I will be here always for her!
On Wed. as well my stepbrothers daughter, my niece will be going to see a specialist....her parents have been concerned about her hearing...her Dr. believes she may be deaf in her left ear.....she is only 3yrs old.
Please keep Marisa and Mikayla in your thoughts and prayers as well as the rest of my family please.... my family has weathered many storms and we will get through another one, somehow ....someway.
We continued with our fishing trip as planned....I needed an escape if you will....from the news I had just received.... 4 adults and 4 children went....we caught 50-60 bluegill and bass....we had a really good time considering.... I caught 4 fish....Jeff caught 21... I was jealous! I couldn't believe we were catching so many....it barely got over 70 degrees yesterday....it was a little cool....but a perfect day for fishing I believe.
Jeff's uncle came out at the lake and told us he was firing up the charcoal grill....and we were all invited for supper with them....grilled hamburgers, grilled hot dogs, mac n cheese, baked beans, homemade fries...and 5 cup salad.... it was so good....everyone ate till they were stuffed...and tuckered out.... a couple of the kids went and crashed on the couch from a hard days fishing...and the rest of us went back out on the patio to chit chat awhile....we came home around 10:30pm.....
This morning we both got up bright and early....and I received more devastating news.... a male classmate of mine that went to school with me through 10th grade then switched schools had passed away yesterday....at only 35yrs old.... I am in shock...so sad! We just never know when our day will come.... My thoughts and prayers are with his family....
Jeff wasn't going to mow today...but decided to go ahead and mow a few places including our yard.... the weather is so nice and suppose to be all week long....70's-mid 80's This afternoon we plan on going out to eat at Cheddars....we haven't been in quite some time... and we are going to go to my MIL's ... today is her birthday....so we are going to take her , her gift and spend some time with her... It is also my SIL's birthday today....her daughters are playing in touraments ....so we will give her, her gift another time..... we talked to both Jeff's mom and sister this morning on the phone giving them Birthday Wishes.... I even graced his sister with my singing ...LOL She cracked up!
I have stayed in my PJ's all morning...just having a blah kinda day, not feeling motivated at all....I need to go to the grocery and I need to clean house.... It can wait!
I think I may go layout awhile , soak up some sun and collect my thoughts

I am so sorry to hear about the breast cancer. That is so scary, but thank God she caught it early. I am sure she will be just fine. She is lucky to have such a great support system.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your classmate as well. So sad.
Sounds like a great fishing trip, at least. Joe was gone fishing allll day today, he caught 57!!!
I am so sorry Terri. Take it from me that each time, your family gets stronger. I know this really scares you and your mom since she lost her sister to this dreaded disease. She will be in my prayers. Thank you for your encouragement through my tough time,
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear all the devastating news! I will pray for your family! Hang in there.
ReplyDeleteI read the news on your mom's blog. I'm so sorry! Keeping the family in my prayers that all turns out okay.
ReplyDeleteI'm very sorry, T.
ReplyDelete29 is way too young to be diagnosed with cancer. But it sounds like hers was caught very early and that's so important.
As for the possibility of deafness, we went through that with Parker too. The doctor, obviously a moron, denied my "Could it be autism?" question and instead decided Parker must instead be hard of hearing or possibly legally deaf.
::sigh::
He wasn't, obviously.
Sending healing thoughts to your family.
Thinking of you Terri.
