Happy 76th Birthday Grandad!
You have always been there for me from day one, at the hospital when i was born...I was your first born grandchild...
I lived under your roof with mom until i was 12...so not only were you a grandfather to me...but also a father figure..you taught me so many things in those 12 years...
* How to walk and talk
* how to arm wrestle like the best of em'
* The value of $1, as that was the allowance you would give me every friday after you got off work and i thought i was rich...hehe
* Taught me to stay away from the coal burning stove as it was HOT..i can still hear you telling me "Hot Tamale'..Terri get back or it will burn you" as you were taking the hot coals out....
*Most of all you taught me the value of a grandfather/grandaughter relationship...it's priceless...and i will cherish those memories forever...
I love you with all my heart Grandad!
The whole family gathered at his house tonight to have supper with him...my aunt and mom fixed a huge meal...fried chicken, fried pork tenderloin, mashed taters, stuffing, corn, green beans, rolls..mac n cheese...and lots of desserts...a great time was had by all....

ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet entry, they really do teach us so much, but I think sometimes we even teach them more. I miss my Grandparents so much, I can still hear my Grandmother saying things like "Marry a man who loves God more than you do" Where else can you get that kind of advice? lol
