So very proud of my cousin.....

Yesterday afternoon I came home from work and got ready and headed out to go to my cousin Ashleys basketball game...she had been wanting me to come to one for quite some time...I'm not really into sports....although I will watch them when it is someone in my family playing... Ash graduates in May....so I thought I had better get going to one if I wanted to see her play before she graduated...lol They played a tough team last night and played hard....Ash made around 5 (3 pointers)....but they lost the game... 52-45.... it was her last game ...ever...unless she plays once she goes to College....I haven't heard her say.... She had an amazing basketball career throughout her years in school....I know I wrote an entry awhile back about them stopping in the middle of a game and presenting her with a basketball when she made her 1,000th point.....but they left it blank saying (1,__) where they could put a final total on the basketball....when it was all over.... I am anxious to see just how many points she made total.... When my Aunt(her mother) and I waited outside the locker room for her....it was taking awhile so my cousin Chelsey who also graduates this year with her...went in there to check on the girls... Chelsey came back out saying they were all crying..... One chapter in their life has ended.....and another will begin in just a few short months. Ash didn't know I was coming to the game, I called my aunt last week and planned it....but told her I wanted to surprise Ashley...we took our seat up on the bleachers when we got to the Gym and I looked over at Ash from across the court....she was grinning ear to ear and blew me a kiss....lol After the game...I was home settling in for the night and I got a text from Ash ...it said "Thanks so much for coming tonight, it meant alot to me...I love you".... Awwww.... I love my cousins! I am so very proud of you Ashley....you have a very bright future ahead!

  1. This is a very 'family' entry, wonderful. I am also not to crazy about sports. But if family is involved I can enjoy it also.
Yeah, it is amazing the different steps in life, each one means a lot, especially those having to do with youth and school, nice when you can share one of those times.
    Good one,

  2. I am not into sports but it is nice when they
see family in attendance. Jack's grandson
plays baseball and when they are home they go
where ever they are playing. Love is the main
    thing.

  3. You know I'm a HUGE basketball fan. My kids are into every sport there is, so I have no choice but to be a fan. But let me tell you, if she is making 5 3pointers a game, she will be turning down colleges! Seriously, it sounds like she could have a future in sports if she wants to take that road. I hope she goes to UT if she plays. Its the only women's bball team I follow.

I'm glad you got to go. I'm sure it meant a lot to Ashley (and her mother too) that you took the time out to come watch her. You are a good cousin Terri!

  4. It would have been great if they had won their last game and I'm sure it was hard on the girls when they lost. I can see Ash blowing a kiss at you, I know it made her feel good to see you there.

  10. That is so great Terri. You can tell just from your entry how happy she was that you were there. I am the same way. Not to much into sports but my nieces keep asking us to come to a game. I guess we better do that soon too. So next year I will definately get my butt to a game. I always love reading your family entries. You can tell you have such a close knit family.

Sounds like you had a lot of fun at the game. It's really great to see girls participating in sports. Many moons ago (lol) I did too :)
