As I was sitting here this afternoon after work making my last entry I could hear limbs snapping on the trees surrounding my house and neighbors homes....the ice is terrible.
A little before 5pm I heard a huge snap and crash....I ran through the house saying "What the hell was that"....Jeff was home early...he got off an hour early due to the weather and the shop being dead today due to weather as well....we both went to the back door and one of our big branches off of our tree covering the back patio snapped and fell on the corner of our house damaging our gutter and part of our fence...
Time will only tell how much more damage there will be come morning.... while outside taking those pics I could hear snap snap snap....all over the neighborhood....kids hollaring and dogs barking as branches were snapping and falling everywhere....
Mom is without power and so is my MIL as of this afternoon....my best friend as well....
Everytime I look out my dogwood looks worse than before...I just know we will lose it....then the house will look so bare out front.... ::::::sigh:::::
Have I mentioned lately how ready I am for SPRING!

I sure hope you do not lose the Dogwood. I love those trees.
ReplyDeleteIce is murder on trees, hope there is no bad damage.
Take care and stay warm.

Come On Spring!
ReplyDeleteOh no! :(
ReplyDeleteI hope you don't lose your tree. That's just sad. I hate to see trees die or get cut from the ground like the one in front of our townhouse. Grrrr.
I'm still ticked about that. I heard this awful racket out my front door last summer and lo and behold, they were feeding my tree into a chipper. I was LIVID.
I hope the damage to your house and property is minimal and I hope you don't lose your electricity! Yikes.
Stay warm!
BTW...we're getting the ice storm too. :(
XOXO
Thank goodness it wasn't worse with that tree limb! Hope you don't get anymore storm damage.
ReplyDeletenow we are 7 inches by noon tomorrow. geez, i hope your moms get their power back soon.
ReplyDeletethat is sad about your tree. dogwoods are a thing of beauty in the spring and i hope nothing worse happens to the house with all the limbs coming down.
xxalainaxx
Hey, it could have been a bigger branch and went through your roof!
ReplyDeleteLORI
Thank goodness it didnt go thru your roof!!! =] I am so with you, when on earth is spring coming??!!!! lol
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about the damage from the ice. I hope you don't lose your dogwood tree! I'm ready for spring too!
ReplyDeleteWe got the snow+ ice. it is scary when kids or anyone is close to them they could get killed if a tree were to snap :( i took pics and posting them :) !
ReplyDeleteOh I am so sorry to hear about the dogwood. My first two years in KY have given me a great love for the beautiful trees in the spring that bloom in this whole area. My two new Bradford pear trees look like they made it and we lost a few limbs but otherwise okay. I am not sure about our new shrubs. I put so many new ones in for Rob's birthday this year. I hope they make it. One good thing, all this snow and ice should make our soil in KY really good for the coming year.
