5/30/09 Kenny Chesneys Sun City Carnival Tour
Such a wonderful day.... Jeff usually works on saturdays till noon....but he took a 1/2 day vacation so we could enjoy the day together....
The day started out after we got ready and left the house around 11am.....we went to Cheddars for lunch...had a nice meal and then around 12 or so we headed to Louisville, Kentucky...to the Papa Johns Cardinal Stadium....
We took our sweet time...stopped at a Rest Area that had a cool little store with all kinds of trinkets....and anything you may need on the road...we left with a coke a piece and a monster slim jim, which I just now remembered is still in my console...HAHA!
We arrived near the stadium around 3:45 or so....found a parking area that was less than a mile away from the stadium....I would say about 5 blocks or so away...we didn't care we just saw parking and took the first area we found...lol They were charging $10 to park in that lot....but hey it wasn't miles and miles away....we parked...and started walking to the Stadium....
Upon entering the Stadium I wanted to go to the merch. stand and buy me KC's 2009 Tour shirt....see it above......I love it! It has the tour days on the back of it.... yesterday I wore it out shopping and was at Target looking at cd's and this guy asked if I went to the show in Louisville....I told him I did....he said he was there too in row G on the field....I said no way....we were in row F on the Field....too funny!
So I was a happy camper with my Tshirt in hand....we made our way down the steps and onto the field where our seats were....the anticipation was building ...the excitement was skyrocketing as I realized how good our seats were...were we 2nd row? No, but we were on the field....fairly close to the stage with a great view....and I was very pleased!
So 4pm on the dot....the show begins.....up first was Lady Antebellum....they were wonderful!!! Something about the guy lead singer is soooo sexy....his voice , the way he handles himself on stage....etc... I can't wait for their 2nd album....
Next up...was Miranda Lambert....she was wonderful as well.... a little spitfire she is....full of energy and funny.... She said ...if any of you guys in the audience has a crazy ex-girlfriend it's because you made her that way... *giggle*......the crowd went crazy when she sang "Gunpowder and Lead".....it was awesome!
Next up was Montgomery Gentry....this was my 3rd time seeing MG....first time I saw them was when they opened for Kenny Chesney.....and Kellie Coffey was there as well....thinkin it was the Margarita's & Senorita's Tour....I'd have to go through my concert ticket stubs to be sure....one day I plan to make a concert scrapbook....with all my goodies....2nd time I saw MG was in Lexington, Ky....at Triangle Park...where they were shooting the "My Town" video shoot....such an awesome experience.... I love MG's music....
Next up was Sugarland...they were amazing! Loved it! Jennifer Nettles is so full of energy....she sings her heart out... She and Kristian both got on those plastic beachball lookin things and rolled over those of us on the field...they couldn't go too far out because they were hard to roll...i'm sure...but it was awesome...never seen anything like it at a concert before.... Jennifer got the crowd goin with her version of Nelly's "Hot in Hereee"....it was hilarious....the crowd was lovin it!
Kenny Chesney took the stage.....the storm clouds came rolling in....eventually it only rained about 10 minutes....it was awesome though...the crowd went wild when it started raining hoopin and hollarin....Kenny looked hot wet *wink* Kenny's entrance was awesome....they had him in a chair harnessed to a wire over those of us on the field....he came right above us.... I nearly lost my voice screamin so loud...and shakin Jeff's arms saying.... "OMG he is right there" when he was above us.... as if Jeff cared...LOL I think he enjoyed seeing me so excited and happy though.... :) but he did say this would be the last "country" concert he is going too....hahaha We shall see, he always says that....but he always takes me to the ones that are out of town if i wanna go bad enough.... I love my husband!
The show ended around 10:15pm....we headed back home....we ran into a really bad storm on the outskirts of Louisville....thank goodness it didn't hit at the concert....it was hailing so bad we had to pull over....everyone was pulling over...it was bad! We came across a Denny's and stopped to get a bite to eat around midnight....we got home around 2am.....it wouldn't have taken us that long....but with some construction that was going on....and the bad storm and stopping to eat and all....it was late....
I will say one thing it was my first outdoor concert and surely not my last, as they are sooooo much fun outdoors!
Hope you enjoyed the pics :)
I am still WAY behind on reading you all....I may have to just start from the present time...i'm that behind :(
I got up about 6:45 this morning and started cleaning house....it was a mess...and needed some TLC...I stopped cleaning around 10am for a break and my BF and her daughter came over to visit....so it was a very long break..lol Her daughter loves Beau....and was so excited to see we had a new member in our family....she was in awe of Maddie....speaking of Maddie I need to get some new pics and video of her...she is really growing....so fat....fluffy and cute!
Here it is almost 3pm....I still have quite a bit of cleaning to do,as I am organizing clothes, shoes, etc.... So far I have done alot of dishes, mopped the kitchen and bathroom floor, dusted, vaccumed....I may switch out comforter sets in the guest bedroom....
I bought the book "My Sister's Keeper" yesterday at Target....I've been seeing the previews for the movie and it looks so good....I would like to read the book then go see it at the movies....
Well I guess I better get to work.....Have a great weekend!

Awesome concert pics! I guess the rain is just following Kenny on his concert tour. ;) Those plastic bubble things were pretty cool that Sugarland was in. And I think Miranda Lambert is pretty fiesty too. ;) Loved the pics you also took of the fans/crowd. People can get wacky at concerts! When we went to that free country concert it was outdoors(couldn't get any good pics though...my camera sucked!)we saw Blake Shelton, Travis Tritt, missed one group b/c we got there late...forget who? And I can't think of who else performed. But it was an awesome concert. We were WAY out, but it was kinda romantic b/c we sat on the grass and cuddled under some blankets(it was fall I believe). :) We had fun! How come Jeff doesn't like country music? He seems like a good 'ole country boy at heart. LOL Brandon just started liking country music a few years ago, so it's nice to be able to listen to music I like in the car and he not try to change the station all the time to rock...I like some rock stuff, but not a lot of it. ;) Anyway I really enjoyed this entry and all the pics.....i almost felt like I was there w/ you...minus the music of course. HAHA! :)
ReplyDeleteNow that's my kind of concert woman! Oh yes!! I have seen Kenny 4x's and Montgomery Gentry 3x's! Never seen Lady or Sugarland but would LOVE too. Your pictures were great.
ReplyDeleteok I think i am caught up but hell i dont knwo for sure...grrrr......
ReplyDeleteI have been having issues lately......lol
